A feel-good book about how searching for the perfect man can blind you to the good guy next door! “If you read one romance novel this summer, choose “I Need a Hero,” it’s witty, fun, and completely addictive.” Ann Abrams
A lovely summer romance read that you won’t want to put down
Romance writer Bronte Huntington has vowed she will never settle for anything less than ‘the one.’ When pleasant red-haired dentist Ryan moves in next door he just doesn't fit the bill. They have plenty in common but Bronte wants nothing more than friendship with him.
Then it looks like Bronte’s dreams have finally come true when dashing Sebastian Fairfax rescues her on his horse after she has an accident in the countryside around her idyllic little cottage. Sebastian is tall, dark, handsome, and heir to a massive country estate!
But is Sebastian the one? Or will Bronte’s romantic dreams of the perfect hero turn out to be as fictional as her novels? And will Bronte's temperamental cat ever stop getting in the way?!
Perfect for fans of Samantha Tonge, Lucy Diamond, Mandy Baggot and Catherine Ferguson

Ooh, I do love myself a good summer romance. You know, the one that you can finish in a day and put down with a smile on  your face? I Need a Hero is exactly that. A lighthearted novel that will make your heart flutter a little.

Bronte is living in a cosy cottage where she does all her writing on romantic novels and loves a good book herself. She's a big fan of the classic love stories as you can tell by the name of her cat, Mr. Darcy. Her passion for love stories has given Bronte a pretty good idea of what her dream man, her hero, would be like. She has promised to herself not to date anyone other than the person that matches every single requirement.

This is where Ryan, her new neighbour comes in, only he doesn't seem to tick off any of the boxes she has in mind. Even when conversation flows easy between them and they seem to get along just fine, Bronte is declined in taking anything other than the perfect hero. But at least they can be friends, right?

Bronte is convinced she'll find 'the one' and soon enough her patience is rewarded when Sebastian Fairfax comes along. He's stunning, comes from an important family, But Bronte is soon to find out that even if a man might tick off every box of her dream list, fictional perfection and real life perfection are far from the same thing. How much is she willing to sacrifice for the perfect man? Especially when said man only manages to hold a conversation for longer than a minute when it's on the topic of polo or himself?

I have to admit that I was slightly hesitant towards this novel when the friendship between Ryan and Bronte went smoother than butter. Both their friendship and his interest in her felt slightly rushed, it seemed to happen within the blink of an eye.
Don't get me wrong, I love a good chick-lit where the connection is instant but even this seemed to be awfully quick to me. However, as the story continued, Ryan totally charmed me too and soon enough I was completely in love. It made me forget all about my initial reservation and was completely engrossed in Bronte's life, hoping she'd realise who the real hero was for her.

I finished this book within a day and can only agree with everything that's been said about it. It really is the perfect summer read for any romance lover out there. Take it with you on holiday or to the pool, or beach but be sure to put on sunscreen as you might not move for several hours, not wanting to put the book down!

A lovely summer read that will leave you with a smile on your face.
